The ancient ones knew precisely how to generate abundance—by balancing their lives to be in harmony with the natural order of time, space and people, thus allowing nature’s guidance to preside. Homes and communities were built at the base of mountains to protect homes and crops from prevailing winds. Communities were planned where streams could provide essential water, enough sun to warm the home and trees to offer their cooling shade—living in harmony with nature while balancing and protecting nature to sustain life in every form.
Today, we recognize Feng Shui through more modern language—living according to organic, holistic and green living/green design principles. By living more consciously and in flow with nature rather than against it, we create a more sustainable and productive way of living and working. We create environments that support our well-being on every level—to generate great abundance!
In Part II of this series, you were asked to tune in to your environment and determine how it feels. Now you will be.
With Feng Shui, we use a tool called the Bagua, which is an arrangement of patterns—a mapping system for the physical environment. It was developed thousands of years ago based on the I Ching—the ancient Chinese book of philosophy upon which Feng Shui is based upon. The Bagua represents perfect balance through its eight houses and one central house called the Tai Ch’i – the flow of Yin and Yang energies.
When you place the Bagua over your lot, home, a room, a desk, or anywhere you desire, you can deepen your understanding of your space in relationship to certain aspirations of your life, which can create balance and harmony in body, mind and Spirit.

Since we are talking about Creating Abundance, your relationship to wealth & prosperity, health, career and life path can be shifted positively by using the Bagua as your guide. These are the areas to focus on now as they relate to moving the energy of abundance.
So here are very simple adjustments that you can make today that will help generate an abundance of wealth and prosperity, improved and new relationships, physical and emotional health, balanced family life, creative aspirations and overall well-being.
Wealth & Prosperity:
This is the far left corner of your home, office, room, lot – any location that you decide to overlay the Bagua. What you can do to activate abundance:
Activate the wood element by using colors and shades of green. Purples and deep blues may also be used to introduce water that nourishes the wood. Reds are sometimes brought in to ignite, give light and upward movement. Hang a wind chime to capture the wind that moves through this Gua.
Place a moving water feature in this Gua – water moving toward you to create a flow of abundance.
Introduce lush plants to represent the wood element – jade, bamboo, soft rounded leafed plants that symbolize money and great abundance are good choices.
Abundance bowls made of salt lamps – these not only represent wealth and prosperity, they purify the air quality with their negative ions. It’s as if you are bringing the ocean to you!
Health Center – Tai Ch’iAll of the Gua’s are supported by this center, therefore you will want to be sure it is nourishing to all. Introduce earth with yellows and browns, Pottery, stoneware and any objects that represent coming from the earthClear any clutter, unfinished business, objects that do not feel supportive to your daily life, fresh fruits and flowers, nothing broken, stuck or conflicting like doors or stairways. You will know it when you see it.
Continue to work through your home, business and office environment by following the Bagua as your guide—adjusting the space according to its meaning.
Feng Shui is the practice of understanding how the energy in our living and working spaces impacts and affects our lives. It allows us to harness and leverage this energy to our best advantage, improving not just the aesthetics of our spaces but also the feeling of our spaces. When you feel good about where you are and what you have around you in the present, you have more energy, focus, clarity and success. Make space for the change you desire and prosperity will not only follow you—it will flow toward you.
